Today I was going to surprise you all with a review of "My Favorite Things".
My friends and family always joke with me that I'm a total "gadget girl" and I always have the most practical and useful things. After a while of fighting that title, I finally embraced it and I was going to share a lot of those things with you...
Then last night happened. I don't know about you guys, but sometimes I just have nights where I need to cry, and I have a lot to do, but nothing seems to get done. Last night was definitely one of those nights. I'll share a little more about that in the coming days, but regardless, I didn't get "My Favorite Things" list together.
I will have it for you next week. I would say tomorrow, but Wednesdays are small group night, so that won't happen. I usually either do a short post or no post on Friday, so really that leaves us with next week. Plus it'll be WAY better if I have the weekend to work on it.
So make a note to check the blog NEXT WEEK (and all the days in between).
Today what I have for you is another DIY project that I've been working on. It's not completely finished yet, but that's okay. In my opinion, DIY projects are always a work in progress.
I decided before we bought our house that I wanted to find a place for a BIG chalkboard. Thankfully, our laundry room provided the perfect spot...but it's been one of the last things on the priority list.
A few weeks ago, I bought the supplies for the chalkboard, which included chalkboard paint and a few extra paint brushes.
Last week I taped off a big rectangle where I wanted the chalkboard to go.
Finally, this past weekend, I began painting.
After three coats.
The box said to do two coats of paint, but I actually had to do three because the first one didn't cover the wall very well. I guess the previous owner used really really good paint in our laundry room, and I probably should have used a primer before I started painting the chalkboard.
Alas, after three coats (you have to wait four hours in between coats) I finally finished the painting stage.
Jason and I made at little trip to Home Depot and got the frame cut to size. I haven't had a chance to paint the frame, but that will be the finishing touch.
I've also been reading about "priming" my chalkboard with chalk before using it.

Did you prime it before using it?
If so, how did you do it? Would you recommend doing it this way?
